Position Summary This position provides product development and consumer insight teams project-relevant statistical expertise for the design and analysis of laboratory and sensory experiments, and for consumer testing/research. This role requires extensive knowledge of sensory and consumer study design, particularly in regard to constraints of testing with consumers, consumer scaling issues, etc. This role is integrated within projects to drive greater understanding and insights from data, enabling clear, defensible, and timely data-driven decisions and actions, accelerating project completion. Il. Position Responsibilities (Expected Work) 1. Provide statistical expertise to product development and consumer technical insight to ensure that appropriate and efficient study designs are utilized and that designs are fully aligned with project objectives. 2. Provide robust and practical statistical data analysis as appropriate to study design and objectives. Deliver and communicate results in a customer-focused meaningful way. 3. Train scientists in available statistical computing and data management tools and processes. 4. Adapt, devise, and implement novel data-analytical approaches where they add value and insight. Keep abreast of new developments in data and consumer sciences. 5. Support and extend the statistical computing infrastructure, appropriate for strategic delivery of the program. Write and document programs as necessary. Ill. Challenges 1. Provide high quality support to an array of widely varying types of projects, types of studies, types of data where study design is usually complex. 2. Work effectively across a variety of assignments, managing concurrent tasks and priorities, soliciting and achieving priority resolution when required. 3. Work with scientists from a wide array of disciplines with varying understanding of statistics 4. Timely and effective communication and delivery to a diverse audience – diverse in terms of level of technical/statistical sophistication and, in some cases, regional/corporate cultures. IV. Scope • This position primarily supports the North American Consumer Insights groups (Regional CTI and Claims). The position also provides support to product development teams, and consults with global (CTC) teams in other locations. • This position influences others but is not anticipated to have line reports V. Skills & Competencies Knowledge Education Ph.D. (applied) or M.S in Statistics Experience Four or more years experience for Ph.D., or 6 or more years experience for M.S. as statistician (data scientist) in consumer products; other industry experience (e.g., pharmaceutical pre-clinical or clinical, or relevant industrial) may be considered. Skills (Identify from Professional Skills Dictionary) Science and technology expertise -xpertise and experience in thehe design and analysis of systematic experimental studies (DOE), panel size estimation, linear models (analysis of variance), multivariate analysis, categorical data analysis, and nonparametrics is required. - Extensive experience with SAS programming is required.
