- Your name must be clearly written on the front page, otherwise no credit.
- Pages must be stapled, otherwise no credit.
- Your answers must be legible, otherwise no credit.
- Problems whose complete solutions appear in the back of the book will be graded as0 or 1. In other words, if you work it out, then you'll get a +1; if you don't, then you get a +0.
- Some answers in the back of the book are wrong.
- In the assignments, "by hand" means that you must use the equations in the book/lecture to solve the problem, not a computer program in excel, R, etc. - "by computer" means that you should use R, excel, or your favorite computer program, in which case you should also turn in the corresponding computer code, with explanations. Specifically,
--- 1) Use some preprogrammed function (e.g. in R: hist(), lm(), ...)
--- 2) Turn in the computer code, and
--- 3) Turn in any output of the code (e.g., graphs, correlation, ...)
--- 4) Explain the results.
--- Although handwritten code and output are acceptable, a printout is immensely more preferable.

- Unless otherwise stated, all problems should be done "by hand."
- Follow other rules/instructions which may accompany each assignment.
- Generally, provide everything that you think is required to convince the grader that you know what you are doing, and that you actually did the work.
- In the assignments, x.y means chapter x, exercise y. Make sure you are using the 2nd edition of the book.
