Adrian E. Raftery
Adrian is Professor of
and Sociology and a
faculty affiliate of the
Center for Statistics and the Social Sciences
Center for Studies in Demography
at the University of Washington (UW).
He works on the development of new statistical methods for
the social, environmental and health sciences. Much of his current
research is on statistical demography.
- Adrian was co-first author of the article
"World Population Stabilization Unlikely This Century",
published in Science on September 18.

- Adrian delivered the Inaugural
Gossett Lecture, sponsored by the
Irish Statistical Association
and the Royal Irish Academy,
in Dublin on May 29, 2014. This commemorates
William S. Gossett, who
proposed the Student's t test in 1908, working in Dublin.
- Adrian was inducted to the Royal
Irish Academy on May 30, 2014.
