Gene expression data is often analyzed to find sets of differentially expressed genes. In this talk a different approach is taken. Using any predefined set of categories (eg. GO terms, pathways, etc.) one can use all expressed genes to identify categories of interest. The methodology is both simple and easy to apply. It can be viewed as an extension of the approach suggested by Mootha et al (2003).
Some examples and different approaches to inference will be presented.
