Simulating the Universe in a (large) Computer

Fabio Governato

University of Washington - Astronomy

I will give an informal talk about some new exciting discoveries and current challenges in computational astrophysics. I will specifically talk about the role played by Dark Matter and starburst generated gas outflows in the formation and evolution of spiral and dwarf galaxies over cosmic ages. Then I will briefly outline how cosmological simulations of galaxy formation will benefit from an efficient statistical approach to parameter search.
