James Johndrow will be presenting a guest talk titled "Bayes Shrinkage at GWAS Scale: A Scalable Algorithm for the Horseshoe Prior with Theoretical Guarantees" on Friday, October 12, 2018.
James Johndrow is currently a Stein Fellow in the Statistics Department at Stanford. He received his B.A. in Chemistry from Amherst College in 2003 and M.S. in Statistical Science from Duke University in 2012. In 2015, he completed his Ph.D. in Statistical Science at Duke University. His research focuses on high-dimensional Bayesian methods. I am especially interested in development of scalable algorithms to enable use of Bayesian methods in applications in genetics, large-scale experimentation in industry, casualty estimation, and algorithmic fairness.
